Thirteen years ago, I had the pleasure of directing the music video for "Dance Floor" by The Apples In Stereo, featuring Elijah Wood. With the renewed interest in The Apples thanks to the Elephant 6 Recording Co. documentary, I was inspired to update the video for this decade.
In the original video, the band performed in an enigmatic orange space we achieved by painting the studio walls. For this updated version, I envisioned them playing in a time-space vortex.
By the end of the project, I adjusted every frame of the original video. This includes over 80 shots where the foreground talent needed to be keyed, roto’d and comped over a new background. Additionally, I created totally new VFX shots, new titles, and a ton of stylistic tweaks, re-edits, timewarps, and cleanup.
